Resilience is the ability to absorb shocks.  It is possessing an unshakable inner core strength of calm in the face of a storm.  It is being as bendable as a tall bamboo that is blown to the ground and rebounds, erect, strong, and unharmed.

Kate emerged from the tragic loss of her sister and best friend with a passion to help other people.  She has inspired students around the world with her story of how she became resilient.  With student after student asking, ‘’how did you manage to stay so strong?’’ she became inspired to help youth thrive through adversity as she has. Kate now empowers teens through school talks and her weekly podcast show, ‘’Okay. Now What?’’ with practical tools and strategies to build resilience and overcome any challenge – no matter how unexpected, uncertain or unwanted it may be. 

From a broken-hearted sister battling an eating disorder to Australia’s 100 Women of Influence, Kate Fitzsimons is living proof that what doesn’t kill us can make us stronger. 
She is an international speaker, certified life coach and Director of the Nicole Fitzsimons Foundation – a charity established in honour of her sister who was killed in a motorbike accident in Thailand during 2012.  Determined to save others from this tragic fate, Kate left her corporate career in 2013 to create a Travel Safety Education Program for Australian high schools that hits home the devastating consequences of risk taking in foreign countries. A campaign that she began as a devastated sister alone in her room, it is now something that’s strongly supported by the Australian Government and National Corporations.  

Lesson 1:

Recognizing What You Are Responding To

Kate says, "In a world where there's so much beyond our control, it's easy to spiral into a place of helplessness and overwhelm--especially right now in our world where we're right in the middle of the hysteria of the corona pandemic that's affecting just about every part of everyday human life.  Anxiety.  Disappointment.  Fear.  Frustration.  These are emotions we are collectively feeling around the world.  With so much unexpected change and uncertainty, many f us are panicking and reacting in ways that leaves us feeling out of control."  Kate's mission as a resilience coach is to help you gain your power back over your life and how you're feeling about this uncertain world.

Kate provides the "3 R's" to living a resilient life:  Recognize, Reflect, Re-direct.  In this training, Kate shares the keys to the first two R's.

Lesson 2:

Reflect And Redesign

The second key to becoming resilient is to REFLECT upon the impact of our thoughts on our emotions.   It's about how we show up and what we do or don't do in response to a specific circumstance when we're feeling a particular way.  The third "R" is RE-DIRECT your unhelpful thoughts to ones that are more empowering.

You will learn:
  • How your automatic negative thoughts (ANTS) create patterns in the brain which produce emotions and then shape your experience.
  • ​How to re-focus so that you show up as you want and can create the result or outcomes you want.
  • How to re-direct your thoughts so they empower you.

Lesson 3:

How to Stay Calm

Kate applies her "3 R's" strategy to living a resilient life. Today, we all face varying degrees of stress. Learn how to become resilient in the face of stress and enjoy a sense of calm.

You will learn:
  • How to recognize your feelings and know how they are shaping your thoughts and your emotions.
  • To reflect on your thoughts and words so you are in control of how you feel and response--that is your "response-ability."
  • To re-direct your stress producing thoughts so that you ar incontrol and empowered.  ​
